My Project
Our classroom library needs to get refreshed to inspire and motivate my student leaders to become joyful readers. A new spinning bookshelf will allow students voice and choice to choose from a variety of books to read from such as graphic novels, chapter books and social emotional books. When they have colorful scratch and sniff bookmarks to use with their books then it will get them excited to continue reading more.
Reading books will become their "happy" place.
The cute pens and motivational journals will help them write about the interesting books they are reading so they can share out to their classmates with booktalks. My students love SURF's Up time when they do silent uninterrupted reading for fun.
Usually they enjoy reading online books on EPIC but nothing beats the feel of a real book in which they can turn the pages and even take the book home to continue reading after the school day ends. Having new books to add to classroom library will bring excitement and wonder. Reading a good book will be a wonderful mental break from their online learning activities. Hopefully it will also promote lifelong readers!
