This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I am very excited to be teaching at a new school this year. I am the K-4th Grade ELA and math interventionist in the Learning Center. Nearly all students come from a low-income family. I have learned that low income does not speak of the quality of students. I have some very intelligent and eager-to-learn students. Across the nation, schools are struggling to provide resources the students need due to state and federal budget cuts. My students deserve the best, and I am their advocate to make sure they get the best. We are making huge strides to improve in all aspects, and the students deserve to have new books, new pieces of technology, and new life experiences to help them succeed in school and life.
My Project
I was so excited when I saw the reveal of Schoolgirl Style’s new theme this year- Hello Sunshine. The theme has a motto- A Rainbow of Possibilities- which happens to be our school theme this year! A few of us tend to spend our money year after year to make sure the environment matches our vision. We are a Leader in Me school and part of our rubric is environment. Making sure the environment is a welcoming, friendly, fun, learning space is all part of what we are required and what we want for our kids. Their faces when they see the theme is worth every penny. We are asking for the bundled set of school decor for Hello Sunshine, extra borders from the set to match bulletin board through the school, rainbow stickers for PBIS, and sunshine name tag for the students to earn sunshine points for PBIS. Help us transform our space!
