My students are a diverse group of first graders in a Title I school. They are each unique with different learning styles and interests. Despite their differences, they come to school each day with open minds and open hearts and are ready to tackle the day.
Their passion for learning and the desire to do well is what makes them so phenomenal.
My students are thinkers. They persevere and support each other when learning new concepts. They build each other up. They feel comfortable taking risks and making mistakes. These students have built relationships with not only me, but with each other. In our classroom, we are like a family. We laugh together, grow together, and encourage each other to be the best version of themselves that they can be.
My students face extreme hardships on a daily basis both in and out of the classroom which interferes with their learning. Dwindling basic supplies shouldn't be one of their worries.
Having the basic classroom supplies would help my students explore their creativity while ensuring they have the tools needed for academic success.
Having crayons, pencils, construction paper, dry erase markers and glue sticks will help bring their experiences to life. These basic school supplies will allow my students to get their creative juices flowing and enjoy completing hands on activities, such as interactive notebooks without relying on dittos and boring workbooks.
