My Project

A quiet corner to learn is all about giving my chick-a-dees a space where we can come together and learn in small groups. Currently I have a table with 2 desks attached at the ends in order to fit the children around it comfortably. As you can imagine it's not all that comfy.

As the number of children in my class grows, so does our need for spaces that are tucked away in a quiet area for small group learning.

Students in general are best served when they are learning in small groups, but especially those in Title 1 schools. It provides them with the safety of a small group of peers in which to express themselves, make mistakes and show success without the stress of ALL the students watching listening.

In my 22 years of teaching, the small group setting is my most favorite, I have seen so many lightbulbs go off and hurdles overcome, as well as conversations that were meaningful. With your help my hope is reorganize my small group space and make it more inviting and conducive to learning.
