Help me give my students books that have characters or authors that are by people of color, Time for Kids to practice reading non-fiction and non-fiction skills, and a bookcase to put them in.
I have a very diverse class, which makes our classroom fun and unique. They all came to school with the excitement of being back face to face. It was hard and they are a little behind, but they are loving every minute in the classroom learning because they know learning is fun!
My Project
Most of these items are books that are written by people of color. I wanted to make sure my students are able to see that they can write, but also that they are in books as the main character and not the side character used for diversity. This is important to me. Books written in Spanish were also put on my list because I want to make sure that my Spanish population, which is the biggest, gets to read books in their native language. It is important to me that they use their native language.
Time for Kids is a great way for students to practice skills they are learning in class, but also give them current events.
In a kid-friendly way.
The last thing is a bookshelf to put all of our wonderful new books on!
