My Students
My students are from a large, urban community that is interconnected and socialized. They bring a special blend of cultural diversity, background knowledge, prior experiences, and pizzazz to our school. We are a Title I school in a low-income community; I have twenty-one vibrant students in my classroom with varying abilities and circumstances: temporary housing, doubled-up housing, and IEPs. Free breakfast and free lunch are available to every child in our building each day, which are now remotely served.
My students are resilient, STRONG, and enthusiastic about learning.
The majority of my students read below grade level. They would benefit from a variety of classroom resources to help increase their success in our newly established distance remote learning platform. As of March 13th, my students began learning at home. The school will continue to be closed due to the COVID-19 virus for the rest of the school year. This presents a challenge, as most of my students do not have access to supplies in their homes.
My Project
A great printer is one of the most important tools for every teacher. Printing coursework, last-minute papers, and professional documents are all just some of the purposes for having one. Within such a busy, fast-paced school environment, having a printer with fast prints-per-minute and added features such as scanning, copying, and faxing is essential. Particularly as a “speducator”, there seem to be endless amounts of documents that need to be scanned and faxed.
With all of the uncertainty involving school reopening in the fall, as a teacher my top priority is being able to deliver quality instruction to ALL of my students whether it is remote, in person, or blended.
Having a printer will enable me to print worksheets for my students to share during our live lessons. When working with my struggling scholars, I can differentiate with printer materials and share them on a separate screen using a document reader. Additionally, I can use the printer to print our important documents such as IEPs that can be mailed to my parents instead of sending It electronically to ensure the safety and confidentiality of my scholars.
