Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students, ages three to five and a half years old, are part of an inclusive pre-Kindergarten environment. They live in a multicultural city and for this reason, they are very diverse. They are diverse not only in their cultures and ethnic backgrounds, but also in their physical, cognitive, behavioral, and emotional learning abilities. Our school is part of a Title I district where at least 75% of students qualify for free or reduced-price meals.

My students' love for learning always amazes me.

They are curious and eager to learn new ideas through play-based, multi-sensory, hands-on activities. As a teacher, I am constantly striving to provide new materials and experiences that will allow them to grow in all areas of development. My ultimate goal is to provide a solid educational foundation and instill in them a lifetime love for learning.

My Project

This upcoming school year, my district plans to implement a hybrid model where the children will receive two days of in-person instruction and three days of virtual learning. As a pre-kindergarten teacher, I love providing an environment that is rich, inviting and filled with visuals and materials that openly invite children to view, manipulate, explore, and learn. The printer and ink requested will complement this passion and promote student learning by providing a quick and easy method for creating different sized signs, pictures, labels, games, manipulatives, bulletin boards, puzzles, books, storytelling props, etc. These materials will be used in the classroom and also during virtual lessons.

I believe active and concrete experience is the most powerful form of learning.

This printer will enable these types of opportunities and allow me to create visuals and materials that will support the curriculum and promote growth in all areas of development. By providing information in a visual manner, I will be better equipped to support all of my young students including those with learning disabilities and language challenges. I will use my knowledge of my students' diverse needs, interests, and backgrounds to create a multitude of concrete, curriculum-based materials that will serve as static visuals to increase student learning, comprehension, retention and success.
