Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
In ELA, we do a lot of hands-on work with old fashion paper and pencils. By doing work with paper and pencil, the student is able to read better by not having to strain their eyes staring at screens. They also get to practice their handwriting skills, something they do not do often outside of school. However, this requires me to obtain my own printer paper, as we often do not have the funding for the school to provide printer paper to each teacher. As well as the lack of funding for printer paper, we often have issues with our large printers, causing teachers to not be able to print for the day.
With this project, I will be able to print the work for my students in my classroom, decreasing my reliance on the school's printers.
A little about myself and my students: This coming year will be my fourth year teaching at JMS in south Oklahoma City. I absolutely love my job, and adore my students! However, 97% of my students live at or below the poverty line, making learning that much more difficult for them. With your gracious donation, you will be helping my 6th graders succeed in school. Their success means their futures will be brighter!
Thank you for considering my project, I truly appreciate it!
