Help me give my students a play-based learning environment that is friendly to sensory seekers. Items such as the Knock Down Number Challenge and Trace Write Letter activity allow my students to learn while playing.

My Students
My students are some of the best kids you'll ever meet. They are kind, considerate, and caring. My class and I operate in a life skills setting, so they are mixed grades. In our class, we have one-second grader, one-fifth grader, one-sixth grader, and one-seventh grader. My kids are all profoundly deaf and have additional disabilities. These disabilities include but are not limited to hearing impairment, cortical visual impairment, mild to moderate intellectual disabilities, autism, cerebral palsy, and other developmental delays. With such a broad set of students, who are functioning with different disabilities at various levels, we can make a really fun group.
My Project
The items from this project will help support my students learn in a play-based environment. All of my students are deaf or hard of hearing and have multiple disabilities. As such their academic, social, and adaptive skill needs vary immensely. Items off this list, such as the puzzles and sensory toys, will contribute to a deaf-blind student who is working toward color matching and task completion puzzles. Items relating the alphabetic knowledge and writing will support two other students, who are emergent in their reading and writing skills. Items such as the ten frames, timers, and counting trays will contribute to early math skills. One of my students recently began working on their addition skills and will certainly benefit from the use of ten frames. Finally, there are many items that focus on sensory needs. Due to the fact that my students are deaf, they often need extra sensory input. Drawing with chalk, playing with sensory beads, and using activity bean bags for compression not only helps my students regulate but also helps them learn appropriate regulation skills.
