Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our class motto is "Try our best...and nothing less!" My students have a love for learning that is indescribable, and it is my goal to help them achieve any goals they set for themselves.

Our school is a good size in the suburbs of Dallas, TX.

The majority of students are from a low socioeconomic status, which includes free/reduced lunch and breakfast. Although my students do not have many resources at home, I have tried my best to create a classroom environment in which my students can immerse themselves in learning. My students are loving, caring, and most importantly excited and eager to learn new things.

My Project

One of my students favorite things to do is go to the classroom library. In our classroom library, we have over 1,000 books organized by author and category. I would love for my students to go to the library and bring a few titles back to their desks, but they need a convenient place to store them. These chair pockets would allow students to store books at their desks so they could access them at any time. In addition, the paper storage units would allow students to have a mailbox to store papers going to and from home.

I have the best job in the whole world.

I get to watch my first graders bloom into young readers and writers from the first day of school to the last. The best part about being a teacher is when I see the smiles on my students' faces because they are proud of themselves and their progress. These tools will not only enhance their learning time but also teach them the importance of staying organized.
