Help me give my students a clean, safe place to sit and learn. With these supplies I will be able to provide a clean spot for my students to gather and learn together.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, I work with students who are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to help close the achievement gap for my students.
My students are full of energy and very excited about attending school.
They attend school seven and a half hours a day, five days a week. Most of the children attended a four-year-old program at the same school. The children are still developing gross motor skills along with their fine motor skills. Most of the students recognize the letters in the alphabet but don't yet connect all of the sounds to the letters
My Project
The children in my class need a clean, safe place to learn.
With this rug and flexible seating options, my students will have a very clean and comfortable place off of the floor to sit.
Kindergartners are expected to learn so much each day. They need some time to rest/relax and let the information they have heard soak in so that they can remember it. My students have previously sat on the floor. I would like to get them off the floor so they can rest comfortably. I would love to use the "growing tree mat" during independent learning time.
