My Project

The carpet is the "hub" of my classroom. Students thrive off of the community our carpet creates. We start our day on the carpet connecting during our classroom meeting and gather again during mini-lessons before each subject. My students know that our carpet is a safe space to be themselves and to collaborate with their peers. A larger comfy carpet also provides personal space that each student can call their own.

A classroom carpet provides a welcoming classroom environment that we can gather.

Having all of my students on the carpet during my mini-lessons encourages them to stay engaged. I am also able to monitor their understanding and support partnerships. When working independently, it provides options to write while laying our their bellies or to sit in flexible seating when reading a book or working in groups. We appreciate your interest in supporting our project!
