Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Now that we are back in the classroom, students are still struggling to adapt to being back in the classroom setting. As a result, students are having to relearn how to be a successful part of a community of readers and learners. I am hoping to create a more warm, welcoming space for my students to calm down and get refocused when they need a break. These resources will allow students a space to practice mindfulness and will in turn assist them in growing academically. I will be using headphones for students to use during tests and independent work time that will allow them to better focus while they work. I am including a tablet in my cool down corner for them to use with headphones to put on quiet music that assists them in calming down and refocusing. When not used as a cool-down corner, I am also hoping to create a comfy spot for students to relax and read during independent reading time. The headphones and tablet will assist them in listening to and reading books when they are in my corner.
