My students are diverse learners who are ready to embark on their wonderful first grade journey.
In our school the word diversity is an understatement, with more then 40% of our school being English Language Learners (ELL).
More than 17 different languages are spoken at our school and about half of the students in my classroom get Ell support.
Our school is also a Title I school which means many students come from low economic backgrounds. In fact 80% of our students qualify for free and reduced price lunch.
The students in my class come from all walks of life but they work hard to achieve their goals!
These two rugs will give my students clean and comfortable places it the room where they can come together to learn new skills and strategies, share exciting things they tried in reading, writing and math, and to sit or lay down on while getting their work done.
My students spend a majority of their week in our classroom, they need their home away from home to be clean and comfortable.
I have worked in classrooms for many years and one thing I know is students like to lay down on the carpet with a good book or sit on the carpet to get their work done. I want the carpet areas in our classroom to be appealing enough for student to want to utilize. These material will give my students a place to call home.
