Help my students be organized and feel ownership of their supplies!
I work in a culturally diverse neighborhood.
I teach second graders in a general education classroom. Most of my students are low income and most speak another language at home. Several are recent arrivals to the country. My students this year are great- bubbly and bright with a love of learning.
My Project
I am requesting seat storage sacks. These "pockets" fit over the child's chair. He/she can store books, papers, pencils, and other supplies in these sacks. The seat sacks we have now are torn and threadbare. Items fall out of the ripped pockets. They have lasted several years but it is time for them to be replaced.
These seat sacks will help my students be organized.
They will learn independence and responsibility in terms of taking care of their belongings. Their books and other supplies will be kept in good condition since they will be kept in a safe and secure place.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
