My Students

Have you ever had a moment when you just needed to be alone? Well kids do too, especially children with special needs like autism who need a quiet spot where they can relax.

I teach a special education early childhood classroom that has children with multiple disabilities including autism, ADHD, sensory processing disorder, and many more.

We teach them how to follow routines, communicate, readiness skills, and help them to be the best they can be.

My Project

A cozy reading cube is a wooden cube with cutouts on both sides that only 1 or 2 children can fit in at a time. It can be used in a reading area as a secluded spot for a child to relax and read a good book or it can be used as a sensory spot where a child who is getting overstimulated can go to calm down their body.

If I receive funding for this project it would allow my children to have a special area where they could go when they just need to be alone.

On a rough day when the world is just too much they can crawl into the cube, curl up with a book or stuffed animal and relax. I have seen these cubes work in other classrooms and would love to have one in my classroom to use with my students.
