My students need a place of their own to store thier journals, browser bags, storybooks,folders, crayons and pencils to make them readily available for classwork. Kindergarteners do not have desks to store their belongings, rather they sit at long tables and need these pockets over their chairs for storage.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Bilingual Kindergarten in located in an inner city neighborhood school in an extremely low income area. My parents contribute money toward specific school supplies when necessary but I feel these would place to much of a burden on them yet these certainly are a necessity.
Kindergarteners sit at long tables and are not privied to their own desks.They are learning to become responsible for their own supplies and work. It is difficult to do that when you do not have your very own space. Seat pockets would make this possible. They are put on each chair and have the pockets necessary to store their own supplies to use when needed. These items are then to be replaced when finished, teaching my students responsibility.
Seat pockets will give my students ownership. They will have a place of their own to store their personal belongings, a place that is theirs. In a world of Kindergarten sharing, personal ownership is also important!
