Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school is a welcoming place for students and families, as well as being quite diverse. We are 75% Hispanic, 20% African American, 5% other and 80% free lunch. We embrace having a good rapport with our community helpers, especially with the officers that visit our school and help with projects.
Though many parents do not speak English as their first language, our parents are ready to participate in their child's education and help when they can.
Students come in energetic and eager to learn.
My Project
Movement in the classroom is a necessity. In order to move around in our classroom, we need to have flexible seating options. Two area rugs would help us accomplish this.
We have cold tile floors and would love places to sit for circle time, story time, and learning time.
Students like to stretch out while completing partner work or group work. We also like to come together in the morning on a carpet for circle time. This lets us begin our day in a positive way. We can then end our day by coming together again for a story or to debrief about the day!
