This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

When students enter school for the very first time many are beginning Kindergarten. It is important to provide them with a rich learning experience that promotes a positive learning environment.

I teach in a community in which many students are coming from single-parent families, migrant working families, and families that come from conditions of poverty.

It is my goal to be able to give my students the best Kindergarten experience possible and show them that through education anything is possible.

My Project

My students need a place to put their books. Our bookshelves are falling apart. My dad made them for me ten years ago when I first became a teacher. He is no longer here, so I am coming to you to ask for help.

Each student in my class has a book box, and we need a new place to put them.

It is my job to foster a love for reading while kids are in kindergarten. The kids are given their own books each week to read and then they return them to their book boxes on Fridays for reading in class. These are their books and they take great ownership in them. It is time for new bookshelves for their books.
