Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As a classroom teacher, one of my goals is to establish a classroom environment that is encouraging to helping students interact, work and learn using resources in the classroom. The organization of a classroom can either improve or hinder a student's ability to learn and feel safe and comfortable.

Currently, I have nineteen students that attend a large elementary school, located in a large urban city in southern New Jersey.

My nineteen students consist of twelve girls and seven boys with a wide range of learning abilities and challenges. These nine and ten years old students enjoy using resources that promote reading, writing, and math skills. Based on interest surveys, my fourth grade students enjoy reading a variety of books, writing and illustrating stories, making products related to science, and learning using math manipulative.

My Project

These storage bins will help create an environment that fosters learning in an organized manner. Sorting and organizing classroom resources will provide students with endless opportunities at accessing materials. Improving accessibility and availability of materials ensures that needed resources will be utilized to aid struggling students during the learning process. Not to mention, when resources are organized and displayed effectively with defined traffic patterns the environment is highly functional. Students will engage in activities with less distraction from the clutter. They will be able to locate resources from a glance. Donations will help organize a productive classroom where students can effectively use displayed resources. When resources are placed in an organized manner, it promotes and optimizes student learning through hands-on activities.

My students would greatly benefit from these storage bins.

They will be able to effectively and efficiently use classroom resources to promote learning. The storage bins will provide a place for everything in our world of LEARNING!
