My Students

Our school is a very large public school in rural Tennessee. We are the only elementary school in our county. We have just under 1,000 students in Pre-K to 4th grade. Many of our students are low income and receive free or reduced-price lunch. Our school consist of 150 third graders who are full of energy and craving knowledge about the world around them. They love to actively explore the environments around them and engage in various activities to learn new subjects.

My Project

My students will use this warm, cozy rug daily. My students love to be able to sit in different areas rather than staying at their desks especially while reading and during math groups. Having a comfortable spot to sit will help learning be more relaxed and enjoyable. My hope is that this rug will brighten my room, create an inviting space for children to gather to complete work or read books.

Having a new rug will make learning way more enjoyable that sitting on the cold floor.

We spend several hours a day sitting and learning on the floor whether it's learning in small math groups or reading books. I hope this rug will provide my students a space to get comfortable to maximize their learning.

Children learn best when they're needs are being met. My goal is that by making learning more comfortable and enjoyable with this rug, my students will be excited and focused on learning.
