I am a learning specialist working with 2nd grade students in a public school in Chicago's Uptown neighborhood.
My sweet students reflect the diversity of the city- socially, economically, and culturally.
While 95% of our students come from homes which fall below the poverty line, they are a fantastically vibrant group of students, ready to learn and willing to work their hardest.
Our school is in the process of moving towards a full inclusion model where special education and general education students are educated alongside one another, each benefiting from the experience. This classroom model is a reflection of the world around us, affording opportunities for growth and authentic learning for every student!
Our classroom needs a new rug for group learning. Please support us to provide a clean, organized, vibrant place to sit and learn together as a group!
With a classroom of learners with mixed needs, it's important that we all feel we belong and have a place to learn with the whole class.
This new rug will provide my students with a clear, clean, and personal space for everyone to be part of our learning experience. It builds both a warm and inviting visual vibe in the classroom, as well as gives a clear space for everyone to have as their own during group lessons. Students will also use the fun color patterns on this rug for academic activities (color matching, organizing groups, etc)!
