This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students need a new classroom rug! A place for everyone classroom carpet will give my second grade students the personal space they need to learn and play.

While teaching direct instruction in a second grade classroom, the rug is a vital learning space.

From community circle and calendar time to read alouds and structured play, students spend a great deal of time on the carpet. A space for everyone classroom carpet allows students to quickly find their learning spot and also facilitates student pair-sharing while learning on the rug.

In dual-immersion classrooms, students are constantly interacting with their peers. The colored squares allow them to do so in a structured and effective way thus enhancing student learning. It is an essential for every elementary classroom!
