This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
Picture less books will help my students learn language/ English in an appealing context to the mind of middle school learner.
The picture less books will be used with 6, 7 and 8 grade students.
Card stock will be used for the final/ ready to publish stories. The stories are generated by the students and shared among all grade levels.
I will provide the beginner students with sentences for each picture of the book and they get to pick one. I can differentiate the lesson by giving students scrambled sentences to unscramble and match to the pictures of the book.
I can also provide word bank for those who are more advanced in their language skills.
My students lack literacy skills including(phonemic awareness, vocabulary words, syntax...) and the books can target all these skills in an intriguing approach to middle school students.
We can also use the same books and the stories the students create to learn literary devices such as similes, metaphors, ...
This library of wordless books is going to be one of the best investments in teaching literacy.
