A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words!

My students need a document camera so that they can "see" information to enhance their learning.

My Students

It has been said that a picture is worth a thousand words and I believe that is true. I have a projector in my classroom and with a laptop I can turn my words into pictures when I use technology to enhance any lesson with video clips, movies, and demonstrations.

My students attend a large public school in an urban setting.

Currently, there is no funding available for a document camera. A document camera would allow me to enlarge and project any images or materials so that all my students would have an unhindered view. A document camera would save paper and transparency film as I would no longer have to make copies to hand out. My students would instantly see book pages, math manipulatives, directions for games and activities, pictures, etc.

My Project

A document camera will enhance any lesson by allowing me to show my class any materials needed for a lesson (book pages, coins, diagrams, pictures, charts, graphs, directions for games and experiments, etc.) Anything that I would normally copy and hand out can be projected on a screen with a document camera, thus saving paper and overhead transparencies. My students would be able to "see" when I am talking to them, turning my thousand words into valuable teaching pictures.

A document camera is an easy way to enhance ANY classroom lesson.

Young children are visual learners. They need to see what you are talking about. A document camera is a versatile tool that can enhance any learning activity. It will change the learning environment in my classroom by allowing my students to SEE my words.
