I am a State Prekindergarten teacher in the Chicago Public Schools. I get to play and work (in that order) everyday with 20, 3-5 year old children. I find myself using my Kodak digital camera and taking pictures of their learning experiences all day long. They want pictures taken with their mother, grandmothers, fathers, friends, and Santa. When we go on our walking trips we take pictures of the neighborhood, homes and community workers. We watch the trees and take pictures as they change from season to season. The children get excited when I take pictures of them with their friends, the towers they build in the building center, or when they get all dressed up the dress up center. They love to pose and can't wait for the pictures to be printed. I bought my own HP photosmart printer for the classroom. We print the pictures out, save them, hang them up, and make classroom picture books to look at in our classroom library. One of my students is moving to Wisconsin. I was able to go into my PC computer at home, where I save all our pictures and download pictures of all the trips we had taken and pictures of her classmates and friends. She can take these memories of her first school experiences with her. I want to be able to print and share more of our learning experiences and to be able to make a picture book for each of my students to take home at the end of the school year as a memory of their first school experiences and friends.
