My Students

My second grade students love school and have boundless curiosity. I would like to see my students grow both academically and socially. This project will help them see how they have grown over the year by posting pictures to a class website and creating a photo album.

My second graders are from an urban area of New York City.

We are in a moderate/high poverty area. Parents are involved with their children's academic development and this project will help to enable them to be more actively involved by providing the opportunity to see the activities that their children are involved in.

My Project

My students and I will utilize the camera and its accessories to take pictures while on school trips, taking neighborhood walks, and during classroom activities. These pictures will be viewed in the classroom by the students and then posted to the classroom website so that they can be viewed by the parents. The shared viewing will provide additional opportunities for parents and children to exchange information and for children to share their stories more easily. At the end of the year, we will create a photo album that will capture the best/most meaningful moments of Second Grade.

Communication is an important part of education.

By funding this project, my students will be provided with additional opportunities to communicate with each other, as well as with their parents and siblings regarding their day to day school related experiences. It will also give the students an opportunity to see how they have grown socially over the year. They can create a timeline of the school year and be able to look back at all of their accomplishments. What a way to see their progress!
