This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are all very special to me. We are a very small school within Chicago. Being in a small school can be very beneficial to students. We are able to support individual needs with a small classroom. It can be, however, difficult to find funding to support their needs.

There are a lot of changes in second grade.

My students love listening to and reading books. With our limited classroom library, I often struggle with having enough books for all the reading levels in my room. When my classroom receives new books, it's like magic for my students! They all want a turn to try to read the new books. If they can't, they often read it using pictures.

My Project

My class is working on writing and publishing books. Our last unit was informational. I took a picture of them and then added it to their Meet the Author page. You wouldn't believe the happiness they felt. They wanted to write more books.

A picture printer with paper will allow the students to make their books more personalized.

This printer is quick and easy. The students will take their picture and print it using the Canon Selphy Photo Printer. They will be able to add it to their books right away, without waiting for me to purchase and wait for pickup at a store.

It will also allow them to see the writing process in full motion. They will be able to snap photos for their books and instantly have them printed and ready to go. The students will be able to create multiple books without my assistance. They will be independent and responsive writers.
