My Students

My class is the perfect mix of students from all different backgrounds, abilities, and interests. While some are strong readers, others are still mastering letter recognition and sounds. Similarly, some students have excelled at mathematical concepts and practices, yet others are still trying to identify numerals one through ten. Although their skills fall all across the spectrum, one thing they ALL have in common is their love for school, learning, and life!

In the classroom, inclusion and a sense of community is just as important as education!

We work together to keep the room safe and harmonious, we celebrate one another and our differences, and we always strive to lift others up with kind words. Even though at times some may struggle with the curriculum, getting along, and following directions, one thing I can count on from this vivacious and curious group of children is that they never give up! They are the future!

My Project

The one thing we are lacking in the classroom is a cozy corner filled with manipulatives and different toys, such as multicultural figures and a dollhouse; an area where my students can act out everyday scenarios and play cooperatively with classmates. This project will complete my purposeful play area, it will give my students the opportunity to use their imagination in a constructive and engaging manner with a cozy corner filled with a dollhouse and its accessories! I spent last year and this summer campaigning for new books and materials to teach and differentiate lessons for my students. I have added all different materials to build and create with, from LEGOS, blocks and MagnaTiles to puzzles, play kitchen, and dress up clothes. Since I am in a low income area, many of my students do not have the opportunity to engage in purposeful play. With your help, I hope to complete my dramatic play area and give the students an opportunity to play!
