This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Charlotte East Language Academy (CELA) is a K-8 full Spanish immersion magnet school in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School system in Charlotte, NC. The school hosts a student body that primarily consists of Hispanic and Latino students. The instrumental music program (band & orchestra) at CELA is growing each year.

Make the listening experience personal!

Learning music isn't just about learning to play an instrument or singing. Listening to exemplars of performances, music of other cultures, and simple pitch and rhythm exercises play an important role in musical development. High quality headphones help provide each student with these experiences and minimize the interference of outside sounds, including the other students in the class practicing their instruments. Not all students have access to good headphones or earbuds and having a classroom set that is of high quality and easy to clean is important in a music classroom.
