My Students

There are so many things I love about teaching first grade. My students are enthusiastic about learning, thoughtful to one another and their hearts are often filled with joy. We are a family! I look forward each day to hearing their laughter, voices, and kind words that fill my heart with joy.

As we all know, the world has changed and so has our first grade classroom.

Students now have to keep all of their items on the floor next to them and they must be at least 6 feet apart from each other and from me.

I want to give my students some comfort to help create a sense of calmness for them while creating a special place just for them!

My Project

The layout of my first grade classroom has changed drastically this year. Due to social distancing, my students must sit at least six feet apart from each other and they must be at least six feet away from me. Due to this change, the "extra" classroom furniture has been moved into the classroom closet. Students are no longer allowed to hang their coats, book bags, and lunch boxes in the closet. These items are placed on the floor next to them.

I would like to use these storage boxes for the students to put their items from home inside while providing some comfort to help ease their anxiety.

These cushy tops will allow students to bounce and release any pent up anxiety and energy to help bring a sense of calmness while perched on top of their box.
