My Students

My students need class sets of books to improve literacy and critical thinking skills.

My students and I enjoy reading and analyzing all types of books: fiction and nonfiction, alike.

Books allow students to use their imaginations to create a picture inside their head, and a good book can create lifelong learners. My students are amazing! They are diverse in all ways; however, they come together and learn from one another. English is one of those classes where students can freely speak their mind and delve into deep topics that require critical thinking, especially analysis. These skills are essential in the world that we live in today.

My Project

Petty Crimes is a collection of high interest short-stories to help teach students about Mexican-American culture, literary terms, and being caught in the middle-a great read for middle school students! Schooled is a great book to read at the beginning of the school year. It is a book that teaches about acceptance and perseverance through inexperience and innocence. It is a funny and heartwarming story that students can easily relate to and will hopefully bring the class together.

Your generous donation will allow my students to have three full class sets of Petty Crimes, and Schooled.

These books are great for teaching important lessons, while allowing the students to develop a love of reading; the use of their imagination and ability to be creative; and, it will support not only the 170 students that I have currently, but future classes.
