A Paper-Free Classroom Almost a Reality -- Because of You!

My Students

Every day in English class here at Manhattan Academy of Technology is a day filled with laughter, critical thinking, deep, thoughtful reading and rigorous writing. The goals, regardless of the tasks, are the same -- have fun, support one another, and learn!

My kids are thoughtful, driven, humorous, hard-working twelve and thirteen year old children who come to us from many backgrounds, with many different challenges and many different gifts.

Although many of our students struggle with reading and writing for various reasons, they are driven to achieve academically as well as creatively. Through generous contributions from outside donors as well as through projects funded through Donors Choose, many of my students are exceptionally talented artists, musicians, and vocalists.

My Project

There are so many reasons my students need a complete classroom set of Chromebooks. The most important reason is one of practicality -- with a complete classroom set, all of my students will be able to work on a project all at the same time! We currently have to stagger our work, with twelve students at a time working on the available Chromebooks.

These additional Chromebooks will make our class the very first and ONLY fully digital English classroom in our school!

Students will be able to read and complete all of their assignments digitally, and they will receive feedback and their grades electronically, preparing them for the ways in which many colleges and universities require online assignment submissions. My students need a class set of Chromebooks and a charging cart in order to read and write rigorously in preparation for high school and college!
