My students need a digital camera and a scanner to put our school newspaper together.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Hayes's classroom raised $498

My Students
Headlines and deadlines are our life! That's the motto that my middle school journalists live by. Unfortunately, our newspaper has no budget and we're only allowed one fundraiser a year, which makes purchasing technology difficult.
My students are budding journalists.
They work hard to learn every facet of the newspaper business. They spend time learning how to write stories, headlines, proper photo techniques, and even graphic design. The one fundraiser we are allowed each year helps offset the cost of a journalism conference we attend, leaving no funds left for supplies and technology. My students are serious about what they do and despite having no budget manage to put out an award-winning middle school newspaper.
My Project
A digital camera and scanner will revolutionize our middle-school newsroom. The quality of our pictures will greatly improve because we won't have to rely on students using their cell phones to take photos or begging their parents to use the camera. It will also give us the opportunity to include documents that need to be scanned in our coverage of school events. My students could focus more energy on learning proper photography because they'd all have the same equipment to learn together.
My students truly have a nose for news, they just don't have the funding to help them be the journalists they could be.
A digital camera and scanner would not only help this year's students, but students for years to come. In an era where funding has been cut for extracurricular activities, please consider supporting this one.
