This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Our students range from grades Pre-K to 5th grade. Every year they looked forward to Reading Day. I've been at my school for 8 years and for the most part I have lead the Reading Day Committee.
Up until the pandemic Reading Day was a day of great joy for our children.
It has not looked the same since the pandemic. I am hoping that perhaps this year's reading day can be as close to normal as possible.
Our students love to read and Reading Day is a day when they get to shop for 3-4 books free. Books that are donated to our Title I school students. This year we are fortunate enough to have the books we need so we want to make it extra special. Our theme this year is "Books Can Take You Around the World." I thought it would be great for students to have passports that they could have stamped as they visit each classroom. Classrooms will be themed with different places from around the globe. Not only will it be educational but also super fun for them.
