My students need read aloud books, guided reading books, how to art books and art materials, and relaxing yoga cards, dvds, and music.

My Students

Help motivate my students to listen, read, create, and keep calm with reading, art, and yoga!

Our urban school is in a high poverty area and serves many low income families and students who are English language learners.

The majority of my students come from low socioeconomic backgrounds and 85% of them qualify for free/reduced price school lunch. My energetic, diverse class of represent a plethora of cultures and linguistic backgrounds. My students are Latino, Arabic, Burmese, Chinese, Vietnamese, Indian, African American, Filipino/Japanese/Caucasian, and Samoan.

My Project

Keeping students motivated, creative, and calm my goal! The read aloud author books will help my students learn about reading concepts and support in students' reading comprehension skills. The guided reading books will give students "just right" leveled readers to help guide them in their process and journey into the adventurous world of reading. The art and drawing books and art materials will keep my students' minds creative and allow them to express their imaginations in visual forms. The yoga cards, cds, and yoga DVDs will be used to help keep my students minds and bodies calm. It will also be used to teach healthy active movements and techniques to monitor our emotions and feelings.

My hope is that these materials will help all my students learn to listen better, read better and with comprehension, keep their young minds creative, and keep their minds and bodies calm and centered.

With these quality materials, my young students will love learning, feel free to express their artistic ideas, and have yoga to regulate their emotions. Help us start the new year with healthy habits!
