Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I am requesting a class set of the first book in a favorite series. By reading the first book, I hope to entice students to check out more books in the series and series like it.
This book allows students to see that being different can be a strength, and how working together helps solve problems, with an added dose of Greek mythology to spice things up!
There is nothing like the joy of a class reading a novel together.
My students are from all corners of our city. We are a magnet school of the arts. As third graders, students are expanding their reading beyond shorter books to chapter books with longer story arcs. By explicitly teaching them how novels are written, I hope to encourage them to stretch themselves beyond short stories.
