When the boxes arrived, my students were absolutely buzzing with excitement—they could hardly wait to see what was inside! Watching their faces light up as we unpacked each item was truly heartwarming. For many of them, moments like these create lasting memories and remind them that there are caring people out in the world who believe in their success. Your donation didn't just provide snacks; it provided joy, surprise, and a sense of being valued. \r\n\r\nBeyond the fun of unboxing everything, these snacks will play a very real and important role in our classroom. We have long days filled with instruction, projects, assessments, group work, rehearsals, and so much more. Your contribution has made a tremendous difference in providing our students with a unique and engaging hands-on learning experience. Because of your generosity, my students were able to step beyond the pages of a textbook and directly explore the fascinating world of animal science and ecosystems through real-world investigation. This opportunity brought our life science standards to life in a way that was both memorable and meaningful.\r\n\r\nThe owl pellet project encouraged curiosity, teamwork, and critical thinking in every student. As we carefully dissected each pellet, students eagerly examined the tiny bones, fur, and other remains, using their scientific skills to identify what the owl had eaten. The classroom buzzed with excitement as students compared their findings, matched bones to skeleton charts, and discussed food chains and predator-prey relationships. For many of my students, this was their first time participating in a hands-on science lab that felt like a true investigation. It gave them the chance to think and act like real scientists—making observations, forming hypotheses, and drawing conclusions. This type of experiential learning helps deepen understanding far beyond what can be achieved through reading or discussion alone.","fullyFundedDate":1757537815488,"projectUrl":"project/steam-in-action-exploring-ecosystems-th/9687898/","projectTitle":"STEAM in Action: Exploring Ecosystems Through Owl Pellet Dissections","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Martinez","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp1809696_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1480459927699","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrs-kmartinez"},{"teacherId":9044477,"projectId":9165252,"letterContent":"My students are loving our lap trays! Reading chapter books with students is a great way to engage them in at and above grade level reading. You have helped make that happen in my classroom. \r\n\r\nAs you may know, third grade is a pivotal year for students in reading. Grades K-2 set the stage with foundational skills such as: phonics, sight words, and phonemic awareness. Students, in general, become accustomed to shorter picture books as they learn the elements of stories. In third grade students take what they have learned in K-2 and apply it to chapter books and more complex text. They are no longer just learning to read, but reading to learn.\r\n\r\nThis is a difficult thing for students to accomplish. Dialogue becomes more difficult (who is speaking when it isn't followed by \"said\" and the person's name?) What does it mean when there is a break in the page for no reason? Why is this book broken into sections (chapters)? They have to be able to break down multisyllabic words and figure out what they mean based on how they are used in the text. Now they are reading books that not only have an overarching problem and solution, but have layers of characters and subplots entwined in the chapters. By reading highly engaging chapter books, like the one you donated to the class, students learn these skills and more. \r\n\r\nThank you for helping to facilitate my students' love of reading. You have given them a wonderful gift. I truly appreciate your kindness and generosity.","fullyFundedDate":1723654756247,"projectUrl":"project/open-the-door-to-a-new-world/8571355/","projectTitle":"Open the Door to a New World","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. MacBride","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8701255_orig.jpg?crop=1200,1200,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1663273125566","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8701255"},{"teacherId":1809696,"projectId":9010100,"letterContent":"We are incredibly grateful for your generous donation to our classroom project on DonorsChoose.
