Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am a first year teacher, and I have very little supplies and resources in my classroom. Starting up any classroom is costly. Starting up a classroom focused on STEAM is even more expensive. My goal is to extend lessons adding art at least twice a month.

I believe hands on learning allows students to understand concepts even deeper.

I loved art as a kid, and have fond memories of art projects my teachers did with me. I want to pass those memories on to my students. This is how I plan to use my supplies.

The art supplies will be used for different projects I have planned throughout the year. I found that we ran out of pencil toppers, flair pens and glue sticks. The shelving and folders will help keep colored paper and their artwork organized and safe.

The books will be used for the nine week writing project that is in our curriculum. There are three writing pieces within this nine weeks. I want my students to have a variety of people to write about, all while broadening their knowledge of other important people other than George Washington or Abraham Lincoln.

The games will be used during our 30 minute intervention time in both Math and ELA. These intervention times can be boring for the student's. I want to add in some fun while still learning the skills they need.

I'm excited to bring you along on our journey. My first year has been an amazing experience and with your help, I will have the tools I need to help make my next year even more successful. I thank you for this opportunity.
