Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach Spanish to bright, motivated and talented students at a high-poverty school. They have been learning about Hispanic culture through language, cooking, singing, and dance lessons.
But given the demographics of our school, they have not had big exposure to diversity.
I'm working to introduce them to Hispanic culture through field trips and through my own experiences. I grew up in the Dominican Republic, and I frequently tell them about my life. I aim to greatly broaden their horizons.
My Project
This book has a wonderful story of two young students who met and fell in love beyond their cultural differences but they will face many obstacles. She is the new girl from Bolivia and he is from United State.
My students and I love stories about love, drama, friendship, other cultures and powerful themes they can relate to.
I know they are going to love this story because, they will be able to learn about Bolivia through the characters' eyes, also, the feeling of migrating a new country. A feeling that many our DACA and refugee students live in. Hopefully, they will be more empathic to others as a result.
