A New School Backpack!

My Students

Our school family was separated last March without warning with the closing down of our school in Queens, New York. Over the past 9 months, many of our students have families who have experienced loss both financially and with loved ones. This is in addition to already being in economic distress with many being in temporary housing. Now that we have returned to the 20-21 school year and my class is completely remote, it is important for my students to have the supplies they need at home. They are smart, capable, deserving of opportunity and want to learn.

My Project

My students are from an economic area that does not have many of the same resources as many children get to enjoy. It is such a great feeling to have new pencils, folders, notebooks and crayons. Now I would like them to have their own brand new backpacks. I have recently had a project funded that supplies all the basics that would go in a student's backpack. Now I would like to provide them with their very own new backpack to put these supplies in. Most kids love getting a new backpack and new supplies. I want them to have that experience as well.
