My students need tables and chairs for our new kindergarten classroom. Due to the fact that our current kindergarten has 38 kids, we must split it into two classes.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are wonderfully energetic, curious, and awesome kids who come from high poverty homes. We are a Title I school where 100% of our students receive free lunch. My students are eager learners, and I have built a strong classroom community even without having any books or supplies! I have spent hundreds of dollars of my own money to give them the supplies that they need such as high interest books, pencils, paper, notebooks, markers, and copy paper to copy work from the ONE book that I was allotted for my classroom this year!
My school has a very limited budget, and we literally received nothing for our classes.
Right now in my classroom, we gather on the floor for our morning songs, calendar, and other whole group instruction times such as instructional read aloud time. Although I value organized chaos, it is important for children this age to have their own space and to develop their spatial awareness.
My Project
This project will help our school be able to split our overcrowded kindergarten classroom into two classes. Right now we have 38 kids in our single kindergarten class. We will be splitting the class into two smaller sized classes, but we are in DIRE need of furniture for this classroom. Our students need table and chairs to complete this new classroom.
Kids such as our students in a low economic bracket should be afforded the same basic classroom essential as children in more affluent areas.
Please help us to get these tables and chairs in order to give our students the best education possible that they are entitled to. We need these tables and chairs in order to provide a safe and happy classroom for our kindergartners.
