This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are identified as "at-risk" due to their socio-economic status. They need additional support in academics, social-emotional, and physical growth. Our Pre-K program provides this additional support to help them become lifelong learners and critical thinkers.
My Project
Our current outdoor storage shed has completely collapsed due to age and rotting wood. This leaves all of our outdoor toys and equipment without a home. We have no area in our building to store our tricycles, water tables, hoops, bouncing balls, jump ropes, wagons, and all of our outdoor materials.
A new shed would provide the perfect place for all of our outdoor equipment.
Many of our at-risk Pre-K students do not get the opportunity to manipulate and play with outdoor equipment which helps to build motor skills and promotes physical fitness. It is imperative that we have a shed to house all of our equipment. This outdoor equipment provides a daily opportunity for my students to exercise and enjoy outdoor play while building healthy strong bodies.
