This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As a teacher in a low-income, high poverty school district, I know the challenges my students face both in and out of the classroom every day. As a dance educator, I see the talented, up and coming individuals that are going to lead the performing arts world in a few short years.

Opportunity empowers my students to strive for excellence on a daily basis.

My students are talented, driven children who deserve every opportunity both academically and through the arts. They are hardworking, agents of change who are always willing to be challenged. They are role models for one another and despite every obstacle and challenge, they persist and exceed my highest expectations. Our students are the leaders our school community needs to enact positive change.

Through dance, they are given the opportunity to create, perform, respond, and connect dance to their everyday lives in order for personal growth.

Dance education in our school is vital - it gives my students a space to create, express, and explore their personal interests. With your help, my students will be able to experience and thrive through a quality performing arts education.

My Project

Thanks to the kindness and generosity of our donors and school community, we have been in receipt of various dance costumes, shoes, props and additional resources for our dance department. However, as one of the oldest schools in our district (circa 1800s), we are constantly running out of space. At the moment, we have several resources without a safe home.

If we cannot find a safe space to store these dance resources at our school, we will be forced to donate them to another dance program with ample storage space.

In this project, I am asking for a storage shed that will house our dance team and performing arts resources. This locking shed would provide us with ample space to safely store current and future dance donations.
