My Project

The high school Aquaculture CTE program envisions creating a community food garden on a public city lot adjacent to the walking track. By utilizing raised garden beds, students will demonstrate various backyard gardening methods to help local residents learn how to grow their own fresh, healthy vegetables—produce that has become increasingly unaffordable in grocery stores. This initiative aims to address food insecurity in our underrepresented and underfunded communities, providing a sustainable solution to promote healthier living.

Maintained by the high school students, the garden will serve as a living classroom where they can apply their skills while giving back to the community.

The produce grown will be available to anyone in need, ensuring that fresh, nutritious food options are accessible to all. This project will not only support families who struggle to afford healthy options but will also provide a space for community volunteer projects focused on urban gardening techniques.

Through workshops, hands-on learning, and community involvement, this garden can become a hub of education and nourishment. The program hopes to inspire a long-lasting movement that will continue to grow and benefit the community for years to come. With the right supplies, this project can make a meaningful impact by fostering a self-sufficient, healthier future for everyone involved.
