A New Day for (Middle School) ELA

Help me give my students a fresh start for this upcoming school year! I want my students to feel welcome and safe in my classroom, and the way that it can start is by having a welcoming environment!

My Project

Every year, I look around my classroom before my students come in and I wonder to myself: what can I do to make my students feel like they can take on the world each and every day, no matter what life throws at them? For starters, I always think that a positive and uplifting environment can change your mood on most days. I say most days because not every day is sunshine and roses, but we still have to put our best foot forward and try to fight through it . I believe that flexible seating and nice things to look at in the room --including new rugs and pieces of furniture-- can add to the ambiance of any room. I also know that my students can't focus and actively participate in class if they are hungry or if they are lacking something in their lives outside of school. This is where my request for some snacks and materials for us to use in class comes in...that way, they don't have to worry about procuring these things on their own. Having these things provided for my students and my classroom would greatly take some of the pressure off of my shoulders at the start of the year as well, so please consider these things for the start of a new school year!
