My group of students have passion, love learning, and are eager to come to class every day! It is truly a gift to work with such talented and wonderful students. My classroom is special because it is a place we come together, from many different backgrounds, and share the same goals; academic and personal growth. We utilize a growth mindset and promote a variety of learning styles. Students are encouraged to compete with themselves, learn about their surroundings, and be a kind human being.
These students come to me to learn English and History.
However, I learn from THEM because I get to see the worlds they come from! Every single student brings such unique experiences into our classroom.
My Project
My computer serves as so much nowadays. After coming back from virtual teaching, it has become almost 100% necessary in my everyday teaching. I've realized how much paper I have been able to save by doing assignments virtually in front of my class. We use programs that allow students to directly write on attachments instead. I project these types of assignments and model it for them or we complete it as a class.
During my lessons, I project what the students see via my computer, whether they are learning from home on quarantine, or right in front of my eyes.
My computer often serves as my whiteboard. I project writing lessons, daily fluency passages, history lessons, and so on.
In addition to teaching directly from my computer to model for my students, I also use it for lesson-planning, grading, and communicating with ALL stakeholders. It has become such a vital tool in my profession and why not have an awesome computer to use for my awesome students? Technology glitches and outdated equipment shouldn't hinder learning in my classroom.
