Help me give my students a space that they can "own." Providing a carpet will ensure that each student has enough physical to do their best focusing and listening.

My Students
I have the privilege of teaching 20 enthusiastic first graders! My first graders are a diverse group, representing many different cultures, learning styles and backgrounds. We greet each other daily in languages from around the world!
This diverse group is unique in their learning needs, though what unites us is our love for our classroom community.
Our community so easily puts differences aside to develop their classroom culture of respect, inclusiveness and learning. We use our differences as our greatest strength as we learn alongside each other.
My Project
Most of our daily instruction in first grade is done at the carpet. Working at the carpet provides me with the opportunity to have a closer look and listen to the understanding of my students. It also promotes collaboration and discourse between students when they are working nearby to their peers. They have opportunities to turn and talk to peers while learning from each other.
Having a carpet with designated spots and boundaries will promote these positive experiences.
Our current carpet is too small. Students are crowded and become easily distracted by their neighbor. Providing a larger carpet, like the one requested, will help set my students up for success. The durability of the carpet will also ensure that many students in the future find the same successes!
