How many of you remember the joy you had a child, it was time to go to P.E.? I know that you could not stop me from bouncing off the walls with excitement or even stop the smile on my face from the time I left the classroom until I got to the gym. These students are self-motivated and will achieve any task that you give them.
The students here are some of the most brightest, inquisitive and active students I have seen since I started teaching.
It hurts me to know sometimes that many students are still recovering from the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey, as well as the school. I recently took over the Physical Education job at the school and realized that these students have been playing with minimal equipment and usually play the same activities repetitively. I have taken it upon myself to get the students some new equipment because they deserve it.
My Project
Still feeling the effects of Hurricane Harvey, we are still attempting to restock a portion of the equipment that we lost during that devastating storm. The students at our school are highly skilled and show a wide range of interest when it comes to extracurricular activities, and also acquiring new knowledge about different sports, games or activities that are non-traditional in the American culture. “If you’re not making someone else’s life better, than you are wasting your time. I feel it is my job to provide a wide range of learning opportunities in order to not only reach every student, but to encourage these students to step out of their comfort zone and try new things.
I do my best to encourage my students to try everything that is new and unknown to them, because they will never know if they like something until they try it.
With your help in acquiring this new equipment, I will be able to teach my students a WIDE range of new games and activities from around the world! With your help purchasing the adjustable volleyball/badminton nets we will be able to maximize student participation by being able to adjust the nets based on skill level and the amount of students. By ordering more foam dodge balls of various sizes, this allows us to continue to rebuild our equipment closet as well as give all of the students a chance to get better at each activity. With the addition of pop-up soccer goals, I will be able to transfer my soccer unit indoors and outdoors to maximize student participation.
