My Students
Each day my classroom is filled with 30 bright and eager faces from a variety of socioeconomic backgrounds that are united by one common thread: the future. They are excited to learn skills that will take them into their future through games and activities that keep learning fun and exciting for them. Each day is fresh start for my kiddos who do not all come from positive, bright, and optimistic homes.
Despite the struggles my students face outside the classroom, they are always excited to learn and engage in anything that is new, challenging, and fun!
In our very small Southern Oregon town my kiddos have a beautiful and unique area of the country to live in. Despite our gorgeous area, my students come from homes in which their futures are not assured. 100% of my kiddos receive free breakfast and lunch from the school each day.
This incredible group of second graders comes into class each day to learn and become the best they can possibly be. They are each unified in the hope that if they work hard they will have a bright and successful future!
My Project
This year students' learning is being expanded through the use of two new learning programs: Rooted in Reading and the Magic of Math. Both programs are wonderful and allow the students to learn about the required concepts at a very deep level. The students have been using only a portion of the program due to a lack of materials that would help to deepen their understanding and enjoyment of each topic.
Each of the requested books would be used to give students a deeper understanding of the theme of the week while captivating their imaginations through the written word.
The books are part of the necessary curriculum and can be used to introduce each topic, give another view point of the concept, and teach ideas in memorable ways.
